The Tizen conference kicked off today and some Tizen hardware was spotted in the form of a reference design from Samsung. Details on the device are pretty slim but we do know that it is sporting a 1.2 GHz Dual Core ARM based processor (presumably from Samsung). From the looks of it, it is sporting a
3.5 inch 4.3 inch display and we can see that it does have a micro USB connector.
Samsung was meant to have the keynote on the opening day of the conferene but it has been moved to tomorrow. The future of this open source depend on what they hardware partners announce and right now Samsung is the one to watch. Questions that we hope will get answered tomorrow revolve around what Samsung’s vision is for Tizen in relation to their home grown OS, Bada. Many developers are hoping for the integration of Bada’s development tool kit since. But we will have to wait and see as today’s keynote mostly addressed the general potential open source rather than the explicit potential of Tizen.
