This could come in the form of a matched deposit or even a free game to get you started. These kinds of offers pop up all the time so make sure you’re looking around for the best one.
And it’s not just when you sign up that you can take advantage of these offers. There will also be offers and bonuses you can take advantage of when you’re already enrolled. You can get bonuses for signing up your friends too so make sure you keep an eye out for those.
- Less intimidating to play.
There’s nothing worse than feeling like you don’t know what you’re doing. And this is especially true if you’re in front of people you don’t know as well. The sweat starts forming and you get all flustered and jittery.
This is the fear of what could happen if you play poker for the first time at a land-based casino. You’re doing something new, somewhere new, with lots of new faces. And you’re trying to bluff your way through it.
This can put a lot of people off who would like to play poker, but don’t know how. And why miss out on a fun game just because of nerves? This is where playing online can be a real help.
You have tutorials you can watch; all of the rules of the game are written out for you before you play so you can get to grips with it beforehand. It’s all a lot less concerning when you don’t have the dealer and other players staring you down.
How to play online poker.
There are different types of poker that you can play, but we’ll be taking you through how to play Texas Hold’em. This is the most popular and commonly found game of poker, so you’ll always be on the right track.
First of all, the dealer will deal out two cards to each player. Then, the player next to the dealer usually places a small blind bet which is about half of the usual minimum bet. The player to the left of them places a big blind bet that is at least the minimum bet.
You can now look at the cards you’ve been dealt. The dealer will “burn” the first card on the deck. This means that this card is no longer in play.
The dealer will then give out two more cards to each player. You can then look at your cards before the next round of betting commences. The dealer will always pass out the cards in a clockwise direction, starting with the person on their left.
Every time a new card is dealt, you have three options. You can bet, raise or call depending on how well you think your cards will do. If you don’t want to bet, you can call ‘check’ and if you want to make the same bet as the previous person, you say ‘call’.
If you want to raise the bet, you can say ‘raise’ and then announce the amount you’ve raised the bet to. And if you don’t want to match a bet someone has made, then you have to say ‘fold’ and you forfeit the game.
By the end of the betting, if two or more players are yet to fold, all of the players remaining have to show their cards. The winner of the game is the person with the best hand.
Now you know how to play poker, the only thing left to do is play a game for yourself!
