Dell Inspiron M101z

Update: The M101z will be launched in the US next month in August. Brad over at Liliputing has an unboxing video with a few shots – check ‘em out. Video after the break.

This announcement caught me totally off guard – Dell has launched the Inspiron M101z, a second generation 11-inch notebook. Their first 11-inch offering being the aging Dell Inspiron 11z (recently got a proper trackpad upgrade recently, btw).

The Inspiron M101z is powered by AMD’s new Athlon II Neo processors – either an Athlon II Neo K125 (single core) or K325 (dual core) along with ATI RS880M integrated graphics (I’m not familiar with this one).

On the design front, it carries a similar design to their other recent Inspiron releases and unlike the Inspiron 11z it has a flush battery and a proper trackpad from the get go. [Read more]

Dell Streak gets a Packaging Facelift in the US

June 29, 2010

dell streak us packagin

The more I see people using the Dell Streak, the less gay I think it looks, at first glance its 5 inch form factor seems just too big to hold to your face, then you spend a day with it and it suddenly seems reasonable. Perhaps the Americans needed the cooler packaging to get them on board but it seems like the Yanks have out done the Brits this time. Here is a side by side of both boxes, the US release wins hands down.

Dell Latitude Netbook finally gets Pine Trail upgrade

May 12, 2010

Dell’s student-centric Latitude 2100 Netbook got a better-late-than-never spec bump today and was re-titled the Latitude 2110.  The specs remain largely the same, although the base models sport a 16GB SSD, which set them out from the pack somewhat.  It’s also worth noting that the new processor is the faster of the two Pine Trail chips, the N470.

The entry-level Ubuntu system will cost you $389, while the Windows 7 Starter model will set you back $419.  Both of these are obviously upgradable with the usual slew of Dell options, including a bigger battery and 3G or WiMax connectivity.

Knowing that students are a style-conscious bunch, Dell is offering the 2110, with it’s quite nifty rubber lid, in red, black or blue.

The Latitude 2110 is available from the Dell online store right now.

Dell has released and update to their 2100, the Dell Latitude 2110, which at first glance looks pretty similar buts it does have a few updates. Well, the options to update, like with all Dell’s the combinations are endless, but the one thing they will all have in common is the chassis and the CPU it will be running the 1.83GHz Intel Atom N470 processor and GMA 3150 graphics with 1GB of RAM.

When looking at connectivity you’ve got a choice of 802.11b/g/n WiFi module or a 802.11a/b/g unit and you can also add in Bluetooth or 3G options.

Dell also offers a 10.1″ 1366 x 768 HD display option — although you can’t configure the laptop with a high resolution screen and a touchscreen.

If you are looking to build your own prices start at $389 and go all the way up to $891 if you max out on every option.
