Update: This tablet has arrived at the FCC, upgraded to Android 2.2, along with a 600MHz processor, 3G, so perhaps a US release might be possible, although it’s from ZTE. Earlier this month ZTE announced a newer 7-inch Android tablet but this one hasn’t turned up yet. via. Wireless Goodness

Update: Here’s a hands on video of the Bresser 7-inch tablet at that same event. Not in English. via Eee-PC.de

Update: A couple of more pictures in from Eee-PC.de. We can see a MicroSD card slot and SIM card slot on the back. Posted below:

As I keep saying, tablets are big now, you even say it’s a big fad and every company and their subsidiary is looking into releasing tablets onto the market, even companies in other fields like Bresser Optics – they’re making a big leap from optical devices (binoculars, microscopes, that sort of thing) to tablets with the 7-inch Android tablet which upon first glance looks like a large sized HTC Desire. They’re showing off the tablet at Photokina 2010 in Germany.

No name is given for the tablet which sports a 7-inch 800 x 480 display, Android 2.1, 4GB of memory, Wi-Fi, 3G, webcam, USB (mini USB I guess) and an 8 hour battery. No word on release date but it’ll be priced at 299 euros and a later Wi-Fi only model will be released.

Why is nearly every rumored tablet fitted with a SIM Card slot? What about us CDMA folks?

Surely to god you must be getting sick of reporting all these tablet releases and previews? Wow. You mentioned “fad” which makes me wonder. This certainly has the potential to be the biggest farse ever for the technology sector. I don’t doubt there are some people who will buy this as their ereader, but does the demand out there cover 5% of all the releases and news stories out there? It’s getting to be overkill. I don’t think anyone can doubt that. Perhaps if these devices had personality it might be slightly more interesting. The fact is, it’s a touchscreen. I think we are in trouble when Pepsi announces their tablet. I strongly believe the announcement for that is just a few weeks away…
