Just yesterday, I discovered the Acer Aspire One D255 and Happy having drivers for a couple of HD chips – Broadcom’s Crystal HD and Quartics QV1721 HD cards, and now there’s news of a new model from Acer tipster Macles, who’s obviously reading the news.
The Acer Aspire One D256 will have this Quartics QV1271 HD card for HD video playback. There’s really nothing much other than that, it is identical to the upcoming Acer Aspire One D255. Nothing else is known. Interestingly, the cancelled Acer Aspire One 571 from last year was leaked with the same Quartics chip, a HD display and a Vmedia optical drive, and drivers were published on Acer’s support pages, just like the D255 and Happy. So, another netbook to look out for – The Acer Aspire One D256 with a HD playback chip, and I’m hoping that it’ll come with a HD display!
