Intel’s AppUp store – the x86 compatible app store answer to Apple’s App Store on Apple devices and the Android Market place on Android devices, made another showing here at IDF 2010 and it’s gathering steam once again. Many big names have placed a stake in the app store – ASUS, Samsung, Best Buy, Croma, Dixons, Konami, Barnes & Noble among others. They’ve now optimized the AppUp store for tablets and touch interfaces – see our hands on we did the other day.
We’ve heard that Samsung and ASUS will start preloading their own customized versions of Intel’s AppUp store on their products (netbooks and nettops) from November. We’re still waiting to hear announcements from Dell, Acer and other players in the netbook space.
In case you haven’t heard – the AppUp store has been available to download for a while now. Not sure if buying apps has expanded beyond Canada and the US since last time I checked.
