Over the weekend we got word that the ASUS Eee PC 1015PEM dual core Atom N550 netbook would go official on Monday, and ASUS USA did their whole press release thing this week too announcing availability this week. Now we just wait for the netbook to show up in stores, and indeed it’s starting to show up.
Preorders are up at J&R.com – priced at $380 in four colors – black, red, blue and white with the following listed specs – an Intel Atom N550 processor, 10.1″ 1024 x 600 display, 1GB DDR3 RAM, 250GB HDD, 802.11n, Bluetooth 3.0, 10/100 LAN, 0.3MP webcam, 6-cell 13 hour battery and Windows 7 Starter. Should have USB 3.0 according to ASUS’s product pages. Amazon.com also has them up, but in stock, for $399 but they sell from a third party merchant.
This isn’t the model equipped with Nvidia ION 2, but the dual core processor can chomp through 720p YouTube videos without breaking a sweat and there should be a discernible difference in speed over single core Atom netbooks.
