Think Nvidia’s Cortex-A9 based Tegra 2 is going to rocks your socks when tablets hit en masse later this year? Then wait until you hear about Nufront’s customized ARM Cortex-A9 system on a chip / processor. While Nvidia’s processor runs at 1.0GHz, Nufront’s version runs at up to double the speed – 2.0GHz with an average TDP of 2W.
Here we see the processor fitted into a nettop device and unlike your typical Atom nettop there’s no need for fans, just a small heatsink with passive cooling – but that’s a given with 2W power consumption. It’s expected to hit the Chinese market as early as Christmas this year with the bulk of products hitting the scene in 6 – 12 months at a very aggressive price point – $250 for AIO desktops, as an example but it’s suitable for pretty much any type of device.
