AMD

We’ve already got AMD processors with integrated ATI graphics for netbooks on the market. These new processors are apart of the “Fusion” platform and have Intel in their sights we now have word that they are expanding this line up into nettops. The projections indicate that AMDs chipsets can offer more performance than Intel’s desktop-atom perhaps even in combination with Nvidia graphics.

The leaked roadmap from ATIForum lets us know that the code name for desktop Chipsets will be “Zacate”. There is a single and a dual-core version planned and both versions have integrated DirectX11-capable graphics cores. They are allegedly 32-nanometer and delivered in BGA Packaging. The dual-core has a TDP of 25W, while the single core has a TDP of 18W. The single core itself appears to only use about 7 watts so that the bulk of the power consumption appears to be by other components such as the graphics core from ATI and the memory controller. The introduction of the new chip is expected by the end of Q4 2010, this is a leaked roadmap so we take this roll out date with a grain of salt.
