Computex pre-press events have already started and today’s main event was the Taipei Computer Association’s Best in Show award ceremony. We have to admit we haven’t really figured it out, but a Taiwanese company DAGi has an information transfer storage and transfer solution called iCard. The idea isn’t new, tap to transfer, but what is new is that they are using the capacitive touch screen to transfer the information. The solution is compatible with iOS and Android, the demo that we saw was on an iPad 2 and an iPhone 4S.

The demo works much like RFID would tap to transfer, but the iPad doesn’t have RFID and we can’t figure out why the card needs to be inside the center square of the iPad for it to read. DAGi wasn’t forth coming with information about how their solution worked, they simply stated that their booth was magic…and they had a patent.

Their hope is to market iCard as a secure locker for files like ID tags, password, private photos, videos and so on. There are some commercial application was well like language study card, dialing card, website links card, youtube link card.
