Microsoft has updated one of their Translation apps to with the ability to live-translate anything on the fly. All you have to do is point your phone at a sign, and the translation, in the language you prefer, will appear. The app also contains voice translation, for conversations, and the ability to enter a phrase and translate it. Also new in the update is the ability to go ‘offline,’ storing languages for use in countries where you might not have a data plan.

Windows Phone is struggling with a lack of decent applications and this is exactly the type of quality app that we hope to see more of.  It’s free in the Marketplace, if you want to give it a spin. We shot a video of it in action, personally I think the next update will be more interesting, but then again I am living in Taiwan so Chinese is a little bit of an extreme test.
