The Classmate PC may not have gotten widescreen adoption but it did find a home in many classrooms around the world. It looks like the same group that gave us this rugged netbook also has a tablet in the works. The Storybook tablet is rumored to be running on Intel’s Medfield processor with a dual OS boot in a 10 inch form factor.  The tablet will be headed for emerging markets like Brazil and China so don’t expect it to ended up in Western markets anytime soon.

The Intel StoryBook tablet could arrive as early as the second half of 2012, it’s suggested, with ECS and Malata each tipped to be building the notebook for the chip company.  This is all rumor, but it does make sense since ECS already manufacturers the Classmate PC & Intel is pushing Medfield in tablets as an alternative to ARM.  The Classmate PC even has a touchscreen convertible edition so the software won’t even have to be tweaked to create a classroom ready product. We won’t have long to find out since it the 2nd half of 2012 is accurate we will be seeing it at Intel’s IDF conference in Beijing.
