Google has barely shipped Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich and there are already rumors that we’re going to be seeing Android 5.0 or Jelly Bean launch in Q3 of 2012. We’re still waiting on Android 4.0 to resolve some of the fragmentation issues in the Android ecosystem, but there are only a handset of handsets that actually offer the new operating system. Just a few weeks ago at Mobile World Congress we saw more handsets and tablets announced so the launch of the next iteration of Android can’t be welcome news for manufacturers that are struggling to get what’s already announced on the market.

The rumor comes from Digitimes so we’re already wary since they will run just about anything without fact checking it. A Q3 launch would put Jelly Bean in line with the release of Windows 8, so it is possible that they could be considering a launch to compete with Microsoft’s thunder. Google I/O kicks off Juen 27th so we’ve got a couple of months to go before we hear anything from Google on the matter.

Any guesses as to what we are going to see in Jelly Bean?

I am not sure about Android 5.0 it looks like the are just going to do a lot of performance hungry upgrades that will outclass a bunch of devices.

I hope so. Android 4 was pretty good. Slightly better than 2.3 but Android 5.0 is going to be crazy!
