Taiwanese manufacturers Pegatron, ASUS’ sister company, will reportedly take over production of Lenovo’s new quad-core tablet the LePad. According to DigiTimes, production of the new device will start in January. Both Pegatron and Lenovo have no comment on the rumor, but there has already been some talk that Lenovo will be releasing its Quad Core Tegra 3 tablet in Q1 of 2012.

Currently, in China where the Lenovo LePad is already on sale in a dual core edition, its sales are only behind Apple’s iPad with sales the volume already reaching 160,000 units in the second quarter and a market share of 8.4%.

If you’re wondering how Pegatron was able to enter into Lenovo’s supply chain Germany-based tablet & notebook brand Medion was acquired by Lenovo earlier in 2011. This may also mean that Pegatron may even have chances to land notebook orders from Lenovo in the future if they prove themselves in with this tablet order.
