The Wi-Fi only version of the Sony Tablet S has been out for a while all over the world now. But if you were waiting for a version that supported 3G and you’re in the UK, today is your lucky day. You can now order the 3G-enabled Tablet S with 16 GB of internal storage for £100 more than the Wi-Fi only version.

In Sony’s comparison table with the other Tablet S versions, it seems the only difference is the inclusion of 3G connectivity, and a slight difference in weight (the 3G tablet is 27 grams heavier). Otherwise, it is a Honeycomb tablet with a 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and 1 GB RAM. It has a 9.4-inch display with 1280 x 800 px resolution. There is a VGA front camera, and a 5 MP rear camera, and an SDHC slot for memory expansion. Battery life is rated at 8 hours, and the device can double as an IR remote for various AV components.

It seems like many people who buy tablets don’t actually want the added cost of a mobile broadband plan when choosing a tablet, but just in case you want the convenience of an always-on connection, and really like the unique hardware design and UI of the Sony Tablet S, Sony’s got you covered in the UK.
