We’ve been seeing iterations of the ASUS Eee Pad MeMO since June, first it was 3D with a remote control that would be used as a phone with a transparent glass display. At CeBit they dropped the 3D, we assume due to lack of content and the Transparent glass display, which just seemed like a feature that would bump up the price. We now hear from our contacts at ASUS that the 7 inch tablet is finally going to be heading to market in January.

ASUS prides themselves on having unique designs and this the MeMo has that in spades with its MeMic Bluetooth companion can be used to make calls, listen to music via the tablet and act as a media remote. This little device is part of the reason the MeMo has been so long getting to market. Like the much anticipated Pad Phone, the ASUS Eee Pad MeMo will be offered through carriers, this is a much longer process than just shipping it out to your local distributor.

The ASUS Eee Pad Memo hopes to be released with Ice Cream Sandwich, however with the Android 4.0 team rightfully focused on the Transformer Prime, this 7 inch tablet will get their attention afterwards. The goal is to have the MeMo ready to launch with ICS and we hope they do, I mean we’ve waited this long, what’s another week or two!

So if you thought that this was a fly by night product that would never see the light of day, you’d be wrong. As a huge fan of the 7 inch form factor I have a feeling my Wallet will be feeling a little light after picking up the Transformer Prime today in Taiwan & the MeMo in January!
