The new Android phone train just keeps on chugging along. On the heels of the HTC Rezound announcement from last week, a non-blurrycam photo of a supposed upcoming phone from HTC has surfaced. The HTC Edge reportedly will be the first smartphone to use a quad-core processor.
But those buying the Rezound now don’t have to feel bad, because this rumored phone won’t be coming out until late Q1 or early Q2 of 2012. However, if you’re keen to wait for a quad-core phone, what will you get? Besides the 4 1.5-GHz cores of the Tegra 3 AP30 processor, you’ll get 1 GB RAM, likely 32 GB of internal storage, a 4.7″ screen with 720p screen resolution, and the 8 MP camera with f2.2 aperture and backlit sensor. You’ll also get Beats Audio and Bluetooth 4.0 capability.
A specific version of Android wasn’t mentioned, but it would be hard to believe given the reported release date, that the HTC Edge would not come with Ice Cream Sandwich on board. Along with Android 4.0, the HTC Edge will probably come with Sense 4.0. HTC even touts that the Edge comes with HTC Sense on the back of the phone as seen above. It’s also not clear whether the phone will be a 4G LTE device, but that could differ from carrier to carrier, as usual.
We’ll post more details as they become available.
