Asks an iPhone 4S-owner, what distinguishes this phone from its predecessor it won’t take long before Siri comes up. The new system for voice control is a unique feature on a device which otherwise only had marginal improvements.

There is a pretty interesting rumor brewing by a source close to Apple. Apparently Apple is testing Siri on other devices such as the iPhone 4, but we can assume other devices are being tested as well. This means that we will potentially see a software update that allows Siri to run on older devices. Apple has already given to their employees access to a special software version that incorporates Siri’s features on to older devices. Hackers and developers are currently working for a port, but if Apple releases this in a software update any time soon, they may not need to.

Very few people suspected that Apple would ever release Siri for older devices, since it was one of the few things that distinguished them from the 4S. However, this report contradicts those rumors, and suggests that we will be seeing a software update soon.
