Earlier today Samsung and Google announced that they were pushing back their announcement originally scheduled to happen during CTIA early next week. At the time of their postponement, they didn’t indicate why they were postponing the event, just that “this is not the appropriate time for the announcement of a new product”.
The two companies have now elaborated that the postponement is not due to a technical issue, rather it’s out of respect for those people mourning the death of Steve Jobs. Electronista posted this quote from Google representatives:
“We believe this is not the right time to announce a new product as the world expresses tribute to Steve Jobs’ passing.”
There isn’t yet a new date for the likely announcement of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus flagship phone and the debut of Android Ice Cream Sandwich, but we’ll report when the new event date has been determined.
