Sony’s press conference at IFA 2011 just ended a little while ago, and we now have official word about their two Android tablets — the Tablet S and the more unconventional Tablet P.
Tablet S notes:
- 9.4″ screen
- WXGA, 1280x800px
- NVIDIA Tegra 2, 1GHz
- ~598g for Wi-Fi only version, ~625g for Wi-Fi/3G version
- SD slot
- 0.3MP front camera, 5.11MP rear camera
- Android 3.1, Wi-Fi only; Android 3.2 Wi-Fi/3G
- up to 8 hours battery life
- IR remote control functionality
- asymmetrical design, like a folded magazine
The Wi-Fi-only versions of the Tablet S will be available in Europe at the end of September, 16GB version for 479 Euros, 32GB version for 579 Euros. In mid-November, Wi-Fi/3G model with 16GB memory will be available for 599 Euros.
Tablet P notes:
- dual 5.5″ screens
- Ultra-wide VGA, 1024x480px
- NVIDIA Tegra 2, 1GHz
- ~372g
- micro-SD slot, with 2GB mSD included, 4GB internal memory (!?)
- 0.3MP front camera, 5.11MP rear camera
- Android 3.2
- up to 7 hours battery life
The Tablet P only comes in a Wi-Fi/3G version, and will be available in Europe in mid-November for 599 Euros. No word on US release dates yet.
