All the news, rumors we’ve followed in the past months have all pointed to ultrabooks going on sale (or maybe just launching) in September at the earliest. Either Asus’ UX series combo or Acer’s Aspire 3951. Well, now the word straight from Asus CEO Jonney Shih is that their Asus ultrabooks will be launching in October at an event held in New York. There’ll be five different models shared between the 11.6-inch UX21 and 13.3-inch UX31 ultrabooks priced between $899 and $1,999.
Asus’ UX series of ultrabooks will pack 2nd-gen Intel Sandy Bridge Core i processors (i3 – i7), up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM, 64GB / 128GB / 256GB SSDs, 2x USB 3.0, mini HDMI, a 7 hour battery and “instant on” (2s resume) functionality in a 3mm – 17mm thin unibody aluminum package. The 11.6-incher will sport a 1366 x 768 resolution display while the 13.3-incher has a 1600 x 900 display.
