Windows 8, Quad-Core Tablet Teaser?

The world is so small now thanks to the power of the internet. Case in point: there are some photos floating around from the TechEd 2011 conference in New Zealand showing off possible new Windows slates. The first one pictured below is rumored to be a quad-core device that may or may not be given away at an upcoming Microsoft event, depending on who you talk to. It’s possible that the upcoming Microsoft event in question is the Microsoft BUILD conference, which will be focusing on Windows 8 development.

Joanna Stern at This is My Next postulates that given the size of this mystery Slate, it could have an ARM CPU inside. Furthermore, there’s a lack of Ultra-low voltage quad-core x86 chips that would likely pair up with this thin of a slate.


The second pictured slate with a removable battery looks like a Windows 7 slate from Fujitsu, the Stylistic Q550:
