Back in early July, a leaked roadmap revealed the 4G version of the HP TouchPad, a month before its official release through AT&T. It would sport a 1.5GHz chip which apparently turned out to be the same 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, just overclocked. There was also mention of a 64GB model in white due out in August. That’s just been realized over in France where it has just launched.
This particular Touchpad is not compeletely decked in white like you see with the iPad 2, the front bezel is left black but the glossy white on the back extends to and surrounds the rim of the tablet. It’ll fetch a price of 599 euros in France where the 16GB model goes for 399 euros and the 32GB model goes for 499 euros. Unfortunately don’t expect to see this model outside of Europe because HP has confirmed it’s a European only model which is hardly a surprise given how poorly the tablet is selling in North America. Would you buy this for $599?
Other than the white coat of paint and the overclocked chip, it still sports the same Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8060 processor (which can be overclocked with homebrew software anyway), 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, a front facing 1.3MP webcam, 9.7″ IPS 1024 x 768 display and so on.
