Nokia & Intel might just be plotting to take over the mobile computing ecosystem with MeeGo & Queensbay. So, if this dynamic duo are going to garner any success with their new partnership they are going to need innovative developers bringing dynamic content to their ecosystem. There have been rumors of a Nokia tablet that have mainly been coming from analyst, people in the know over here in Taiwan and now we have game developer Fishlabs fanning the fire. I’m less interested in the tablet rumors and would rather discuss what this would mean for MeeGo. Netbooks are currently the low bearing fruit, which is why we are seeing the first MeeGo UI demos on them. But this operating system is headed towards other mobile computing devices, so even if this tablet, content is king and content is coming to MeeGo.
According to the Fishlabs blog they “are working on a AAA title closely together with Nokia featuring OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics for a large screen.” No hints have been given to suggest how big that screen if they are developing for the 3.5″ Nokia N8 that would be much less interesting if its if it is going to be for the MeeGo smartphones that are rumored for 2H 2011.
Everyone, even my mother is working on tablet, so that the rumor holds more truth isn’t the interesting part, I mean Nokia has the booklet, they aren’t exactly shy about producing large form factor hardware for emerging trends. The interesting part to me is that an AAA title that is being developed for Nokia, by a game developer that has alot of premium stock. Content is king and that content developers are being drawn in early is a hopeful sign. We all know that for Intel merging with Nokia gave them access to to all of Nokia developers. Intel also has AppUp! and its million dollar fund which offers incentives like dollars for downloads (paid Apps get a $2 top up per download up to $50,000) to get the ball rolling. Its going to take team work for these two companies to compete against Android and Chrome.
