Another update to supposed Cedar Trail specs are in – there won’t be any native USB 3.0 support, or any SATA 6Gb/s support for that matter due to the “ancient [Tigerpoint] NM10 southbridge” still in use. That includes the top end Atom N2800 and Atom D2700 chips.

Of course manufacturers can add third-party USB 3.0 controllers and no doubt you’ve seen previous generation netbooks, especially from Asus, with it – like the Eee PC 1018P, Eee PC 1015PX and what not. On the other hand, AMD has Intel beat on these features. The Fusion C-50 / 30, E-350 and upcoming E-450 chips all support SATA 6 Gb/s and USB 3.0.

Cedar Trail netbooks are expected to launch in September. Hold on to your Android tablet straps!
