You may have noticed we like covering iPad Alternatives here at Netbook News and we have uncovered a little beauty called the WePad. It is just another tablet but lets take a look at what it has to offer, its a little bigger at 11.6 inches with a 1366 x 768 resolution. It sports an Intel Atom N450 processor and is going to roll out with a functioning ecosystem for publishers to distribute their newspapers and magazines. Its nice to see tablet manufactures get it, tablets have been around for year, but they achieved little success because its a content consumption device and for that to take off, it needs an ecosystem with content!
Behind the WePad an entire ecosystem is started in service, and warranty support for hardware, software platform WeMagazine for the publication and reading of paid content and WeFind for context-sensitive and searchable integration of online content.
Not only will you have access to the WePad App Store but because its running Android you’ll also have access to the Android Market. Brad from Liliputing pointed out that it is most likely the “first non-smartphone devices I’m aware of that’s supposed to have access to the Android Market out of the box”
I have to say this little Berlin startup is coming to the table with what appears to be an application killer or the holy grail of publishing.
