The phrase I’m a MAC and I’m a PC is a familiar one but no one would ever dare stack a Windows tablet against an Android or Apple offering for various reasons.  Having said that there are some glaring features that PC brings to the table that many users are after like a file browser.  You’ll also get a full-size USB port as well as a full-size SD Card slot, which end up making the tablet a little thicker.  On the flip side it does make it easier for you to connect to existing devices.  Under the hood you’ll find Tegra 2 for excellent graphics performance like most other Android tablets on the market.  To give you a rough idea of where this tablet stands against others in the market, just like the Xoom, the 10″ Thrive ways 1.6 pounds and is .61″ thick. Another feature that does set the Thrive apart from its competition is that the battery charges in 1.5 hours, which Philip Osako, Director Product Marketing, Digital Products Division at Toshiba says is nearly twice as fast as the competition.  We’re also interested in hearing that the battery, which is mean to last 7 hours of full HD play back, is also replaceable.

The Toshiba Thrive will start at $429 for the 8GB version, the $479 will get you 16GB, and the 32GB version will cost $579.   Toshiba waited before entering into the netbook market with great success, the Toshiba NB550 with its Harmon Kardon speakers is my current netbook of choice.  However, will the Thrive be enough to compete against the low prices of ASUS or the thin app heaving iPad?  We’re pretty eager to find out the answer our selves, since on spec and price it does seem competitive.  We’ll have to wait for a review unit to find out.
