Rumours started on Monday started about Amazon’s intentions to get in the tablet game and it seems we have more details breaking down their intended models. BGR reports that they will have an entry level model, code name Coyote which would feature Nvidia’s dual core Tegra processor. Amazon apparently also has plans to release the ‘Hollywood’ tablet running Nvidia’s quad core processor Kal-El which was announced at MWC in February and claims to be 5 times faster then Tegra. We’ve heard from Nvidia they hope to have Kal-El on the shelves by the end of 2011.
No other details have been revealed but to round up the other rumours around we should be seeing devices by the end of they year and they are going to be co-designed by Samsung. This all still water cooler talk but the release dates to line up with what we’ve been hearing about from Nvidia.
Barnes and Noble has already been playing with the idea that eReaders are blurring the lines between tablets and ereaders and they are coming in at a $249 price point which has been making them very competitive. The Coyote and Hollywood would be focused on a much more advanced category and would more likely be tied into services such as Amazon Instant Video as much the Kindle Store.
