Fudzilla reports that Intel’s Atom Z670 Oak Trail processor will cost a ‘whopping’ $75 at launch, much more expensive than any other Atom to date the source mentions and obviously more expensive compared to any non-Intel alternatives; a typical dual core Cortex-A9 chip goes for around $20. From what we’ve seen so far at tech events, tablets with the processor have been pretty impressive in terms of thinness and weight but we don’t anything about performance and battery life.

Intel’s Oak Trail platform is not only compatible with Windows 7 but is compatible with MeeGo and Intel builds of Android, including Honeycomb. It’s clocked at 1.5GHz, single-core with two threads and has a 5W TDP.
