We spotted the Gigabyte S1080 Windows 7 tablet up for preorder in Australia back in March and heard that it went on sale in Taiwan in April with Gigabyte promising a global launch in June, this month. At Computex we took a look at the D1080 dock that comes with an extra battery and optical drive. Now, in timely fashion, it shows up for preorder in the US at ExcaliberPC and Dynamism for around $649 – $679. With ETAs of July 1 and July 6 we can probably expect it to start shipping in early July.
Recapping on the specs this Slate has a 10.1-inch 1024 x 600 multi-touch capacitive display, Intel Atom N570 processor, Windows 7 Home Premium, 2GB of DDR3 RAM, integrated GMA 3150 graphics, a 320GB HDD, a 1.3MP front facing camera, Bluetooth 3.0 + HS, 4000mAh, 29.6Wh battery, b/g/n Wi-Fi, 1x USB 3.0, 1x USB 2.0, VGA out, Gigabit LAN, audio jacks and an SD Card reader. It’s 14.95mm thick and weighs 895g.
