Hanwang manufactures China’s most popular e-book reader which accounts for 60% of the market has come out with a tablet which was performing close to expectation until last month. Its tablet PC shipments reach only 1,500-2,000 units, which was significantly lower then expectations. According to Digitimes they the company’s tablet PC did not share strong shipments mainly because the Intel ultra-low-voltage processor-powered TouchPad still has issues over its battery longevity and user interface.

Taiwan PC makers are currently offering Hanwang a new ARM-based tablet PCs based on a Freescale platform to resolve this issue. Hanwang has not agreed to place orders for this projected 2011 Android tablets.

In the midst of this news Lenovo is looking to aggressively to enter the China market with the LePad, manufactured by Wistron. Lenovo is expected to release more solid details by the end of the third quarter or the beginning of the fourth but if we had to speculate my guess would be snapdragon since its already done similar tablet work with the skylight.

According to Digitimes China’s tablet shipments in 2010 are expected to reach about 400,000 units with most of devices using either Android or Windows CE operating systems, according to Digitimes Research.
