Coffee & Girl Talk? HP Slate Specs & Price Leaked

March 20, 2010

Thoughts from the Sidelines has leaked the price and the specs for the HP Slate. Remember, I titled this post is Coffee and Girl Talk, so take this with a grain of salt but some of it we knew and the rest seems pretty reasonable. But if you lean in and look at the details of this story, the link is dead which makes this even more gossip. I will take any excuse to talk about an iPad Alternative.

Supposedly it is going to come in cheaper then the iPad at 400 Euros or $550USD.
Intel Atom Processor which one is a mystery
Win 7 (which obviously supports Flash)
USB Connectors how many, is a unknown
Card reader for which card, we aren’t sure
Webcam

We’ve also turned over a tea cup and read the leaves and we are thinking a late Summer Early Fall Launch. Well since my morning cup is seems to have come to an end, I think my tolerance for anymore gossip has too.

Bandai updates cutesy Netbook, now a cutesy Netvertible

March 17, 2010

Obviously it’s adorable predecessor sold out all of its limited run of 500 units, as Bandai is back with the updated Rilakkuma SX, which features all the charm of the original, plus an Atom Z520 processor , touchscreen and Netvertible form-factor.  No word yet on whether it emits giggling sounds when you touch the screen, although I’m not betting against it.

The other specs are as follows – 1GB RAM, 60GB HDD, DVD Combo drive and an 8.9″, 1280 x 768 display.  It’s manufactured by Kohjinsha, the same guys who made that dual-screen Netbook a while back, and will be on sale at the Namco Bandai online store in June for a cool ¥90,000 (or around $1000).

Personally I’m just disappointed this model didn’t hit the market in time to be the surprise winner in our Netvertible Comparison.
