The Monday Morning Gossip out of Taiwan is news from AGAiT Technology which is a wholly owned subsidiary vendor of Asustek Computer. They boast that they will be producing tablet PCs based on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon platform and Android/Chrome operating systems at the end of 2010.

If you want to know more about AGAiT they began sales of wireless PC peripherals and PC components under its own brand Vento in September 2009 and extended its marketing to notebook and netbook PCs as well as E-Clean series fully automated smart vacuum cleaners under its brand AGAiT at the end of 2009.

If AGAiT takes on more responsibility for distributing this tablet their own brand focuses on emerging markets including China, India, Brazil and Russia to avoid competition with vendors in North America and Europe.

Computex is a mere three weeks away, and they are going to have multiple netbooks featuring the new OS, we are actually glad they have more then 1 coming out, they have been saying that a Chrome OS netbook was going to appear in Q2 of 2010 for a while now. Next generation Netbook platform we’ll be seeing in 2011, the Cedar-Trail M Atom, will naturally support Windows 7 but also support Google Chrome OS. Intel has come out with MeeGo, in case you missed it, its a collaboration of Intel’s Moblin & Nokia’s Maemo to create a new multi device operating system targeting at in vehicle entertainment units, netbooks, media phone and many more. That Intel is going to support Chrome next year shows that they are embracing this Netbook O/S.

Cedar Trail M comes in the second half of 2011, so more than a year from now, and many things might become more clear over the coming months.

Acer Aspire One D260 Hands on Video: No Dual Boot Mentioned

April 15, 2010

The big news around the Acer Aspire One D260 was supposed to be that it comes with a dual boot O/S featuring Google’s Android OS with a Windows 7 operating system. It does not get turned on in the video and there is no mention of an Android O/S appearing as a secondary system. There are two options given for operating system Windows XP or Windows 7 starter edition. This netbook isn’t too much of a departure from Acer Aspire One D250. We do wish he had turned it on so really check out what kind of O/S it was sporting!!

The Asprire One D260 is sporting an Intel Atom N450 Processor with the 1GB Ram and options for a 160GB or 150GB Hard Drive no word on pricing or a launch date but if a sales site is getting a hands on, we must assume the wheels are in motion. Here is the hands on video from RueDuCommerce
