We’ve had HD cards for a long time now, namely Broadcom’s Crystal HD card but still most netbooks don’t sell with these much needed cards. Incidentally, I was browsing Acer’s website and noticed that the upcoming dual core Atom N550 Acer Aspire One D255 and the mystery Happy both have drivers for Broadcom’s Crystal HD card (while the other netbooks don’t) and interestingly, another HD card from Quartics.

Checking out Quartics’ website leads me to the QV1721 HD Video processor for netbooks, notebooks and other devices. Could these new netbooks ship with HD cards? You’d probably say that the dual core Acer Aspire One D255 doesn’t really need it but that model also sells with a single core Atom N50 as well. (see Amazon.com) The Happy netbook might also come with HD cards but that netbook still remains a mystery.
