Exciting times over at IDF 2010 where we finally get to see some Oak Trail tablets in action. The hardware is promising and MeeGo is certainly looking much more promising than Android 2.2 on large sized tablets. Manufacturers putting parts into these new tablets certainly are idling either as shown by Ericsson here with a new 3G modules for Oak Trail tablets and laptops.
First the Oak Trail focused 3G module – This new HSPA certified F3307 3G module is much more power efficient than previous 3G modules, sipping energy rather than gulping – words straight from Ericsson themselves. Not only that, improved speed in re-establishing a connection upon resuming from standby.
Then there’s the the F5521gw 3G module aimed at laptops which supports 21Mbps HSPA Evolution networks and includes Intel Anti-Theft technology which means you can disable your machine remotely via an encrypted SMS even without the OS running – kill switch!
