The 11.6-inch form factor has always been my favourite form factor, especially for getting work done – there’s just enough power for handling and processing HD video at the smallest size possible, and then there’s the same resolution you get on larger notebooks of course.
I was a little excited today when I spotted that Gigabyte had quietly slipped a new 11.6-incher on their product pages – the Gigabyte Q1105M but that excitement fell flat once I saw the specs. An Intel Pentium ULV processor and Intel GMA 4500 graphics – last generation specs! That’s before you get to the horizontal strip style trackpad and the 3-cell 2,200mAh battery. This would barely last 2 hours.
Taking a look at all the specs – 11.6″ 1366 x 768 display, 2GB DDR3 RAM (4GB max), Intel ULV processor, GMA 4500MHD graphics, 250 / 320GB HDD, 10/100 LAN, n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, 3.5G with antenna built-in, 0.3MP webcam and Windows 7 Home Premium. For ports – 3x USB 2.0, HDMI, audio jacks, VGA, RJ45 and 4-in-1 card reader.
