Update: This was due out late September but has finally arrived mid October – it’s now on sale over at HP.com, not that you’d be interested since it didn’t look to hot in early previews. Priced at $400 for the printer and the tablet. via Engadget

For those looking for some HP tablet action, we won’t have to wait until early next year for that WebOS tablet because their HP Zeen tablet, discovered way back in December last year, is a 7-inch Android tablet reality called the Zeen C510.

It’s being marketed as a companion to an upcoming PhotoSmart eStation C510 HP printer, that won’t be sold separately (anymore) so I wouldn’t get your hopes up for this being awesome. It’s primarily designed for e-book reading with integration with the Barnes & Noble Nook bookstore and as a device for interacting with your printer although you can browse the web and do all that stuff. Sound like a Samsung Galaxy Tab or ViewSonic ViewPad competitor? Not at all, not with no Marketplace access or Google suite.

The 7-incher sports Android 2.1 with a custom TouchSmart layer on top , capacitive touch that was initially “not very accurate at all” but has been improved, capacitive touch buttons, SD card slot and webcam (prototype had one at least).

The Zeen C510 is due out on September 20th later this month priced at $399.99 as a bundle with the printer. HP has ditched the standalone tablet option so it’s printer or no tablet.
