  • Wow! I can't wait for this to come out. I think this is exactly where netbooks should be headed. They should not be minature laptops but organic net devices. I'll be using it with my WiMax card. Now if only we had a touchscreen netbook in the US. The icon based navigation would be great with that!

I expect that kind of functionality from my smartphone (and it's already there on Windows Mobile and will be on the iPhone with push notifications).
Notice that when you base apps on HTML/CSS/JS or other generic web standards you can't take advantage of your hardware.
If you need a 'roaming profile' from machine to machine it's easy to accomplish from both Linux (incremental rsync of your home folder in cron) and Windows (Mesh your AppData folder). I agree that it won't carry all the apps wherever you go, but I'm not sure if I want to download whole Office suite, Corel Draw, Visual Studio or even Nero. For that scenario we need full in-the-cloud virtualisation + smart remote desktop protocol (the one from MS is pretty close in the latest version).
For now I would like to see some dashboard-like finger-friendly app for Windows, something like Origami project, with extensions api. That would enable me fast and easy navigation to my smartphone stuff not having to switch devices and still would allow me to use all the programs I use on my desktop computer.

    Thanks for the review!
