Can’t fight the classics but now you can fight in them. Sega has made a slew of games available in Intel’s AppUp! In with the 19 titles are Series 1 & 2 Collection which provide 10 games in 1 package for only $9.99. I’m going to take a look at a few of the games in Series 1, all the games that you get are: Comix Zone, Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle, Ecco the Dolphin, Gain Ground, Golden Axe, Shinobi III – Return of the Ninja Master, Space Harrier II, Vector Man, Altered Beast and Shadow Dancer. You can pick up these games individually for $4.99 each, so the Collection is quite a steal at $9.99. All the games use old school gaming key’s with WASD, arrows and space bar, so they work nicely with any netbook, as long as they don’t have itty bity arrow keys!

Below the video showing off a few of the games you’ll find a brief overview of all of the games available in Sega: Series 1 Collection which I picked up on Intel’s AppUp!

Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle is side scrolling game where Alex jumps, kicks, crawls & punch enemies causing them to explode into gold coins, called Baums. New items are gained by playing Rock, Paper, Scissors in gambling houses to win Motorcycle’s, the Peticopter’s, pogo stick’s and wizard cane’s which allows him to float in the air for a few seconds.

In Gain Ground, players control one of a set of characters at a time. There are twenty characters, each with different weapons. To beat a level, players must reach the exit point with at least one character or destroy all enemies on the level before time runs out.

In Golden Axe, progress is made through the game by fighting through Death Adder’s henchmen, including men armed with clubs and maces, skeleton warriors, and knights. Players are able to attack using their weapon, jump and cast spells that hurt all enemies on the screen.

Shinobi III – Return of the Ninja Master is a fighting game where you have the ability to run from place to place, as well as mid-air dashkicks, as well as the ability to jump-scale walls and a powerful running slash that renders him temporarily invincible. The graphics are basic and its worth a few hours of game play.

Vectorman uses pre-rendered 3D models in its level and character designs. This gives the game a smooth, computer-generated feel. Vectorman possesses the ability to transform, through the use of powerups, into several different forms: including a drill, to cut through floors; a bomb, to destroy all surrounding enemies or breakable walls; and an aquatic form, useful for swimming underwater.

Comix Zone is a side scrolling game in which Super hero Sketch is transported to save the post apocalyptic world in his comic book.

Ecco the Dolphin is an action-adventure video game where Ecco a bottlenose dolphin swims through a progression of side-scrolling aquatic levels.

Altered Beast with our shape shifting hero fights demonic hordes as he moves through levels in order to save the kidnapped Goddess

Space Harrier II has our hero runs and flies towards a forever distant background on a checkerboard-styled ground where he encounters enemies with his large laser cannon.
