Update (08/30): Just realised this is the same tablet as Pioneer Computer’s DreamBook ePad N7, up for pre-order in Australia.

Last week, out of the blue, a company called StreamTV announced the Elocity A7 – a 7-inch Tegra 2, Android based tablet which looked quite promising and hit all the right specs, though we didn’t know what Android version was on board nor the price.

Engadet spent some hands on time with the Elocity A7 and they are impressed. An extremely responsive display, flawless 1080p HD playback, fast gaming. Only complaints are perhaps the accelerometer might not be up to scratch and the lack of Android marketplace, but they will have their own app store called GetJar. Turns out Android 2.2 will be shipping on the device.

The Elocity A7 will be up for pre-order on Amazon.com starting Sep 3 and shipping in October with a pretty competitive price of $399. That includes a free HDMI cable and wireless keyboard!

Recapping the specs: Android 2.2, 7-inch 800 x 480 display, capacitive multi-touch display, Nvidia Tegra II graphics, HDMI out, SD card slot, USB, 3G and a 1.3MP front facing camera.
