Update: Digitimes reports the D255 will go on sale in the US in early September, next month.
First rumors tipped the Acer Aspire D255 would have a dual core Atom N550 processor. Hopes were temporarily put on hold as it debuted in Taiwan with a single core processor with a Windows XP and Android dual boot. Earlier this week it was announced that there was indeed a dual core version of the D255 coming to other countries. As we’ve said before this isn’t a brand new chassis and is a reuse of one of the current models out there.
Turns out HSN.com in the US is the first to get the D255 in stock, priced at $399 and available in four colors: Red, Brown, Blue and Black. The specs for the D255 – 10.1″ 1024 x 600 display (glossy), Intel Atom N500 (1.5GHz dual core) processor, integrated GMA 3150 graphics, 1GB DDR3 RAM, 250GB HDD, n Wi-Fi, 10/100 LAN, 3x USB, 6-cell 4,400mAh battery and Windows 7 Starter.
Not bad, but I know you’re waiting out for the ION powered dual core 10-inchers!
