As I’ve already mentioned, The Dynabook AZ smartbook, the Japanese version of the Toshiba AC100, goes on sale this Friday in Japan if no delays hit, and probably around the same time in Europe.
Out of the box, this smartbook ships Android 2.1 and as we know, it does not come with Flash support. Toshiba Japan tells me that they will be upgrading to Android 2.2 at a later date. They had no comment on whether they would be upgrading to Android 3.0 unfortunately which would have better support for the higher resolution among other things. The other big issue is the Android marketplace – until Google changes their requirements this smartbook will never have access to it officially. This is how it’s going to play out in Japan but I would expect other countries to follow suit.
