Caught Toshiba UK tweeting that they have just prepped product pages for the Toshiba Libretto W100 and the Satellite AC100 smartbook. They’ve got a buy button ready but you can’t actually order right now though we should be getting word very soon when it’ll arrive. If that’s anything like the Japanese release, then it would be around the end of next week (27th for Japan).
The Toshiba AC100 will be the first major 10-inch smartbook to reach the market after having been promised this new product segment for almost a year now. There’s no Windows OS or Intel silicon to be found on the AC100, instead, you get an Nvidia Tegra 2 processor with Google Android. The processor gets a thumbs up as it’s certainly more mobile friendly than Intel’s Atom and we’ll have instant on functionality and good battery life but Android is not ready for this form factor, especially one without a touchscreen for which the OS was primarily built for.
