Broadcom has kindly uploaded a video that demos its new Crystal HD netbook add-on card which allows for full 1080p HD video playback on pretty much any netbook, although it has some limitations.

At the moment you’re stuck using only a few video playback applications, but the good news is that the Broadcom is working with Adobe and we should see Flash support, which means that YouTube HD video should play flawlessly on a netbook with a Crystal HD card.

It’s interesting that Intel are supporting these add-on cards and we have seen Intel road maps for the Pineview platform that are showing support for third party HD decoder solutions such as the Crystal HD add-on from Broadcom.

We just have one question, why didn’t Broadcom upload the video in HD?
