The business netbook is a category that we see a few manufacturers dabbling in and HP appears to be preparing to refresh the 5102 with the 5103. From preliminary specs and chassis photos it look pretty much the same, the biggest modification is a choice of a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N455 or 1.86GHz Intel Atom N475 processor. This upgrade also means that the 5103 will support DDR3 memory.
NetbookNews.it uncovered the specs page on HP Italy and apart from support pages on other HP geographies I can’t find too much more information on the new netbook.
To give you a bit of a refresher on the 5102, its higher $600 price range is justified with a few upgrades like a 7200RPM HDD with an magnesium alloy case and accelerometer in case it gets pushed off the table. You’ll also get the option to include a Broadcom HD video accelerator, optional touchscreen display, choice of a hard drive or solid state disk, and the gambit of operating systems including SUSE Linux, Windows 7 Starter, or Windows 7 Home Premium.
According to HP Italy the HP Mini 5103 is available for purchase in Italy for between €482 and €597.
