A good 16 months after the introduction of the first version of RIM’s BlackBerry tablet has some improvements which go beyond the simple integration of an LTE modem. The new model has a 1.5 GHz dual core processor on board which will provide about one-third more power than the wireless version., the 4G LTE version is finally going to be available on the market. The new PlayBook will have at least 32 GB of flash memory on board and the current version of Playbook OS, 2.0.1, will be installed. Initially, the Playbook 4G LTE will be available in Canada only through select networks. RIM has also stated that the LTE tablet will soon be available in other regions such as America, Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean and South Africa. RIM has given no word on when exactly the new 7 inch tablet will be on the market in America, but hopefully sooner rather than later. The update, BlackBerry OS 10 to be expected in the spring of 2013. Unlike the currently available BlackBerry smartphones, the PlayBook is supplied with the update to the new operating system.
