The Motorola Xoom was the flagship of the first generation Android 3.0 “Honeycomb” tablets but is now rarely thought of. But now owners of the 10.1-inch tablet with the Nvidia Tegra 2 platform can look forward to an early upgrade to the new Android 4.1 “Jelly Bean”. Although the Xoom is not part of the Nexus family, it’s always one of the first devices to get the latest Android update, in this case, Jelly Bean. Google will apparently begin rolling out “Jelly Bean” for the Xoom very soon. Droid Life had the opportunity to get a look at the list of new features in Android 4.1 for the Motorola Xoom tablet. They announced that the version number will be JRO03H 4.1.1. The update will soon be available as an Over-The-Air Paker.

Android 4.1 will bring to the Xoom all the changes that will also benefit other devices. Among other things, the UI will be more responsive because of “Project butter” and  it will automatically resize customizable widgets on the homescreen. It also includes an improved notification area and more accurate keyboard. In addition, there will be a revised search function, like on the Nexus 7, that can follow voice commands to search for information on the web and gives audio responses. According to information supplied by Motorola, the version of Jelly Bean expected for the Xoom will be even a little newer than the Jelly Bean pre-installed on the Google Nexus 7.
