More Mysterious Cracks Appear on the Samsung Galaxy S3

Yesterday we posted a story about our Galaxy S3 mysteriously developing a crack and it seems we are not alone.  In PocketPC.ch Neo325 shows photos of his S3 in which the display cracked while lying on a table over night.  And AndroidPIT also reported that user Chi square’s mysteriously cracked S3 with this photo.

Here is our video if you want to know what happened to our Samsung Galaxy S3.  There is no way to know if this was just a bad batch or if this is a large issue with all Samsung Galaxy S3′s. If you have a problem with yours let you know in the comments.

    Has Samsung or the retailer said any thing? What about warranty?

    If this is something that needs a factory call back, then people with non warranty are in trouble.

    Mine cracked yesterday across the screen about 1/3 of the way up. Was in a small pouch on my waist while running.

    Happened to my new phone the day I bought it. Was installing apps, placed i face down on a soft surface (on a magazine on a table) , picked it up a minute later to find the glass cracked near the edge. Verizon won’t service it.

    We have had the same thing happen. Verizon is unwilling to help, Samsung just outsources everything and will put you on hold for 30+ minutes and never answer your call. Our phone cracked near the home button. NOT DROPPED. Sitting on a nightstand. Woke up, hit the home button, and it cracked.

    So frustrating!!

    I just picked up the HTC One X, it feels way more solid! It’s a tough call between the two, but this cracking this scares me since I’m super clumsy!

    But the S3 is sooooo sexy! :P

    I have had the same cracked screen appearing about a week after purchase for no obvious reason as I had not dropped it. Used it early that morning( no cracks yet) put it in my handbag with nothing hard or heavy in it, and pulled it out to make call – noticed what i thought was a piece of hair but turned out to be a crack across the screen!

    ..experienced this unusual phenomenon…placed my phone in my bag(full of clothes) placed it in my locker..done my routine gym, as soon as i finished my workout..tried to call..pressed the wake up button..the lcd didnt lit up..thought of draining my battery…as soon as i reached home..about to plug it in.. I saw the crack across the screen..
    Samsung wont cover it..they say its negligence..
    ..but i didnt do anything..hoping that samsung would look up to this..

    hi. my s3 also got the same issue. suddenly got small crack just like the pic. i just sent my phone to Samsung center(Malaysia). they said it will be free if it was factory defect. if not, they will charge me RM700. Sorry for my bad English.

    Last night I was watching the football games with a few buddies and I had my samsung galaxy s3 sitting on the couch next to me. During a break in the game I heard my phone buzz due to low battery and looked over to see a fresh new crack in the upper left corner of my s3. I couldn’t believe it, my heart sank. Anyone having luck with samsung or verizon?

    Same problem. Woke up didnt notice anything for a while whilst screen was on…. then when it turned off to standby I noticed the hairline crack from the bottom right to the middle top.

    my s3 just cracked on the top right where the front camera is. I didnt drop the phone or anything.

    Our samsung glass also cracked pretty bad while it was in a bag! ATT says they can’t do anything that won’t cost an arm and a leg – there should be some way to complain!!

    I went to use my Phone and noticed screen has now got lot of cracks appearing from speaker camera. Not dropped it not banged it. It’s in s protective case anyway. Please help they were fine cracks More I use it getting worse. Samsung Galaxy S3

    Mine cracked at the rounded corner by the camera. No drop. Very upset only 5 weeks old in a case since day 1.

    Same thing. Phone never dropped, only 3 months old, in a silicone case with screen protector at all times. Developed a crack near speaker, across the front camera lens, spidering to right upper corner. Got an Otterbox Defender in hopes that it doesn’t get any worse. Will drop by Verizon store today but not expecting anything to happen. I just want it on record in case by some miracle Samsung admits to manufacturing defect.

    Same problem here. Never dropped it and have a screen protector cover. It is the exact same crack as shown on the 2nd picture…very disappointed as i onlybought it 1 month ago.any solutions given by samsung yet?

    This happened to my phone, a hair crack developed from the bottom right of the screen which curved up to the middle right of the screen. Rang orange and they sent me a new phone for free..no extra charge because i told them i hadn’t actually dropped it…sounds like they are aware of the fault, because I had no troubles over the phone!

    My Galaxy S3 has the same hair crack from the home button to the edge. I never dropped it. It just suddenly appeared.

    Both samsung and tmobile deny the problem. They say there havent been any complaints. I called them on their bullshit but they called me a liar.

    I had mine for 18 days. Bought it brand new. Crack appeared in the lower right corner while charging overnight. Samsung said its my fault and its the first they are hearing about the problem. Tmobile said the only way to replace it is through the insurance and pay another $150 on top of the already paid $600 for a referbished phone…. npt sure where to go from here. Absolutely rediculous. Maybe we all should report them to the better business bureau?

    Same! Crack in housing above power socket, rang Tesco and Samsung. Was told they don’t know of this issue (but it’s all over the Internet) and they want me to pay for repairs. I should of stuck with Apple!

    Likewise. BOTH my phone and my husband’s phone developed cracks and I have a hard leather wallet protector that surrounds the phone. I have never dropped the phone or hit it on anything.
