Everybody wants one, but not everyone can afford one. The Samsung Galaxy S3 costs around $650 at its lowest without contracts, but its excellent CPU and a 4.8-inch 720p display makes it currently one of the best-equipped smartphones on the market. The great interest in the unit also ensures that the Chinese counterfeiters make every effort to emulate the S3. The HDC Galaxy S3 is the first clone that has surfaced in China. The phone has a 4.7-inch display that works well with a WVGA resolution.
It is based on the MediaTek MT6575 single-core processor with 1 GHz and has only 512 MB of RAM on board. In addition it has a 5-megapixel camera. Android 2.3 “Gingerbread” is running on the clone instead of Ice Cream Sandwich. The price in China is probably at around $200. The following hands-on video you can get an impression of counterfeit Galaxy S3. Below I have included a second video of the same clone supposedly running Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich.” The counterfeiters have even gone so far as to take the boot logos and animations from Samsung.
