Which of Samsung’s smartphone line up are going to be getting an update to Android 4.1, Jelly Bean? It’s a question that most Samsung owners are asking themselves. It was making the rounds that the SIII was updated from 1GB or RAM to 2GB of RAM to ensure that Jelly Bean would run like better. But what about the 1GB versions of the S3 that are already on the street? Well, since Jelly Bean runs smoothly even on older devices, it should not be a problem on the S3 with 1GB of RAM.

The guys over at Techno Buffalo contacted Samsung with this exact question as well as exactly what devices would be receiving the update. We don’t get a device list or dates, but we do get some insight, read the email below for your self.

Samsung will soon announce Which additional devices are eligible for the Jelly Bean update. As the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer, Samsung leads the Android community with best-in-class devices like the Galaxy S III, and is creating new device categories with products like the Galaxy Note. Samsung has delivered the most lead-branded Nexus OS devices and we are pleased that Google will be bringing Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S customers the first experiences of Jelly Bean on a handheld device.

Why then has the Samsung SIII drilled quickly to 2GB of RAM, if it seems Android 4.1 is not necessary was it? Maybe really only a measure of safety to provide at least part of the buyer can safely update, its system requirements at the time were not yet known.
